Find the largest

Keep a best value and replace it when a bigger one appears.

Definition and example

Find the largest is the focus of this lesson. Keep a best value and replace it when a bigger one appears. The task asks you to apply that idea in a small example: How do you find the largest value in a list. Before you run the code, predict what should happen. Then Inspect the program output and the compiler message if it fails and compare it with your prediction. If the result differs, change one relevant line and run it again. Testing one change at a time makes the cause of a result easier to understand.
